It is 8 o’clock on the morning of Thursday July 4th 1946. Lee Gaynor has gone round to his friend’s house to discover that Russ Hines is not there but somebody is cleaning up the place. The Mexican man tells Gaynor that Mr Hines has gone on a 4-week vacation and employed him to clean up the place. When Gaynor sees blood on the floor he becomes suspicious and fears for his friend’s life.
