Jim is on death row but the lieutenant knows that he didn’t kill Miriam’s husband Martin Stevens the wealthy Wall Street broker. The Lieutenant wants to help him and Jim agrees to tell him what happened on that night so long as he doesn’t tell anyone but his mother and even then only after he has been executed.
