This is the strange story of what befell Anton Stern, the celebrated conductor of the city symphony, only a few years ago. We begin this curious tale in the Stern's duplex apartment in Park Avenue in New York City. It is late afternoon on an overcast Autumn day. In the gracious living room, we find Stella, Anton's lovely wife, and his equally attractive daughter Rebecca, who both haven't seen Anton for over two month. He still refuses to believe that their only son, Jonathan, has passed away from congenitive heart failure...
