An official of the French police sends George Valentine to Algiers on a diplomatic mission to pick up a package that has been stolen from a diplomatic brief case. He is to pose as an Englishman named Professor Benumb and get in touch with a man named Fatak. He meets Fatak in a hole in the wall at a famous Casbah and he almost gets his hands on the package when Bill Turner whom he met in the army appears and demands the package.
