When Johnny Dollar arrived in Clinton Colorado, a place usually described as a sleepy little town he found the whole place in commotion as a fire was blazing in a building, which was going to be the new school. After helping put out the fire he made his call to Albert Davies, chief investigator for the United Adjustment Bureau, New York. Julian Osborne the school janitor from Clinton had gone to Denver and told the insurance broker that he thought a building that Great Eastern Fidelity had covered was in bad shape. It was worse; it was the building that had just burnt down, and further investigation unveiled that Osborne had perished in the fire.
