Several years ago the town of Kilman, Texas boasted a population of slightly fewer than 3000 inhabitants until a wild cat gushes started a fabulous new oil boom. In a matter of months the population rose to 12000 as drillers and other field personnel poured in and behind them like vultures came the hoard of racketeers, gamblers and drifters.
