Christmas Present For Paula - Why The Chimes Rang

Christmas Present For Paula - Why The Chimes Rang

Broadcast: 19th December 1951
Added: Dec 19 2011
It’s a crisp cold night in Summerfield here and there a lighted Christmas tree glows warmly in a window, holly wreaths have begun to appear and the ground is covered in white snow and it’s still falling as the Great Gildersleeve treads his way across the road to Mr Bullard’s house to see Bullard’s sister Paula. GIldy spots a present under the tree for Paula and he knows it is from his rival for her affections. Gildy is determined to get a bigger better present for Paula.

Later while waiting for Paula Gildy reads a story to the children in the children's home entitled "Why The Chimes Rang" and learns that it is not the present that is important for the true spirit of Christmas.
