Jade Snow Wong was the fifth daughter of a Chinese-American family, born and raised in San Francisco. She was raised with the traditional beliefs and customs of Chinese culture, imposed on her by her family and elders - something which she found increasingly difficult, when trying to balance her identity as an Asian American woman with her Chinese Traditions.
