The mayor is getting rid of Chief Gates to cut the towns expenses, as Gates has never made an arrest anyway! The Jolly Boys want to support their friend and after Gildys attempts to talk the Mayor in to keeping Gates fail they decide to get Rolly to break in to Peavey’s store so that Gates can make an arrest.
