In this moving romantic war time drama Jennifer Prescott is a chorus girl but the breaks don't happen like in the movies. She gives up her chance of marriage to Mark as she doesn't want to give up on her dreams of success in the theater. However two years later the attack at Pearl Harbor forces America to enter the war and Jennifer forgets about ever seeing her name in red lights and takes a job for the Red Cross doing recreation work in the camps. 

With the Red Cross she goes to desolation of Iceland to bring a touch of home to the enlisted men. In one of the small and distant camps a dance has been arranged and only Jennifer and Carol Manning are available and now they face that sad mathematics of a dance, two girls and seventy men!
