Cass Wiggins is a hick from Arkansas who just happens to be an amazing baseball pitcher. When the Hornets stop by at Little Rock, Cass seizes his opportunity to follow his dream to play for the Hornets, but he's either rudely dismissed by the manager, Wild Bill Wiley, or ridiculed by Jack Ford, the baseball reporter for the Hornets who decides to set Cass up for a cruel gag.
