It's early evening in River's End, and the streetlights have just been lighted. Policeman Tom Blake has just stopped his patrol car at the corner of Linden and 2nd Street, where the highway comes into town. Tom suddenly stops to watch an approaching car. The driver is coming too fast and slides as he turns the corner, regains control, then suddenly straightens and heads directly for a telegraph pole!
