There's one thing you learn working as a private detective, persistence always pays off. As a case in point Mike Waring gives you the the Kemp brothers, Walter and George. They run a private detective agency in town, but not a nice one, one that deals in divorce by taking pictures to  frame wives so that their husband can have grounds to divorce them. When they hire a bum named Paul for $60 to frame wealthy Phyllis Howard, Paul tries to kiss her but ends up shot dead. Phyllis Howard goes straight to Private Detective Michael Waring to solve the mystery of why a man would be shot dead in her apartment.
