Towns and cities, like people have birthdays and Springfield is no exception. Infact Springfield celebrates its natal day each year with the annual founders day carnival, a fairly gordy and joyous affair held in the municipal auditorium. The towns shops and schools are closed and its citizens are urged to join together in the day long celebration. Grouped around the breakfast table in the white framed house in Maple Street in a holiday mood the members of the Anderson family are discussing the event.
