Charles Harvey is a man who more than any other in the nineteenth century changed the face of America by building a canal between Lake Superior and Lake Huron that everyone said was impossible except Katy Burroughs. Katy Burroughs first met him on Thanksgiving Day in 1852 and it was a dream of hers to see the canal built.
