A policy holder has died and Mr. Steel at the Eastern Trust Insurance Company is having trouble finding the beneficiary. John Adam Smith, the deceased client, died from standard causes, but the circumstances in which the policy had been taken out and paid for were very odd. The beneficiary of the policy, Miss Lorraine Broderick, had only met the deceased once when she bought a newspaper from his newsstand - she was only eleven at the time. Johnny's job was to find Lorraine and hand over the $1500 pay-out.
