Broadway Evening

Broadway Evening

Broadcast: July 25, 1936
Added: Sep 18 2020

Broadway Evening has no plot. It is an ear impression in a life of an average New York man and woman on Broadway. Many of the sounds you will hear here have actually come from Broadway to form an authentic background for the play.

Time Square, the great white way, the main stem, the street of broken dreams, of fame and fortune, of hope and dissolution. It's great hotels would house a city full of people, it's restaurants would feed them. The gayest spot in all America the world beats to the pulse of Broadway and it's heart is the crowd that moves beneath its gaudy halo.

The sound effects are wonderful. They really put you there. Fabulous for a recording from 1936.
