Eric's poems are being rejected by every publisher he has sent them to, and his older sister is worried about him. She tells him to go out for a ride on his horse, Duke, to clear his head. Whilst he's out riding, he arrives at a very old house and a woman named Julia tells him the strangest tale about her fiancé Jamie Parsons, and how she is awaiting his return from the war. Eric is puzzled. Which war? And why is the woman's home furnished as if it were still the late Victorian era?
