Fred Bassett, a lawyer, tells the strange story of his friend Dave Templeton, a budding business man. Both have beautiful wives, are members of the local country club and have everything most people ever dream of. But one day Dave Templeton asks Fred to completely wipe his life out. He wants to transfer everything to his wife and disappear. His aim is to start a whole new life and he assures Fred that one day Fred will want to do the same thing. Over the years Dave's disappearance is forgotten, but then strange things start to happen in Fred's ideal life. Maybe Dave was right all along?
