On Geary Street, not far from the Barbour family home in San Francisco, is the newly formed partnership of Harper and Barbour real estate. It's a rather modest and conservative place, but old Emmott Harper has done very well over the years, by virtue of hard work. When he took Clifford on as a partner, he had hopes of being able to gradually take things a little easier, and asks Henry again about whether he would consider taking on the other half of the business so that he can retire.
