It has been several days now since Teddy left her husband, Elwood Giddings. She has been living with an old friend Maude Pemberton who has an apartment overlooking the marina in San Francisco. Since her separation, Teddy hasn't seen anyone in her family - not even her father, Paul Barbour. In fact, she refused to see him when he came to Maude's apartment to talk to her. Paul is quite concerned about her.
