Henry Barbour, bundled against an unseasonal October chill, puttered in his beloved garden overlooking the Golden Gate Bridge until mid-afternoon today, when the sun disappeared behind gathering clouds, and the blue of the ocean became an ominous slate grey he went into the house, looking forward to a long, comfortable evening in his favorite chair near the fireplace.
