Today we shall examine exile. From fifteen to fifty years, in some Siberian outlands, we find family and friends left alone to survive or die. One man in the Russia of 1890 is a boatman who conveys the convicted across the river from Russia to Siberia. In the boatman's hut are two exiles. One, obviously a man of position, asleep in a fur coat. The other, very poor and younger who warms his hands before the blazing logs.
