Sam receives a visit from Ned Towers. Ned is worried about his sister, Sylvia Towers, who is engaged to be married to Jefferson Davies Calhoon. Mr. Calhoon's three previous wives have not outlived their honeymoons and he has collected all three of their insurance policies. Ned says that Mr. Calhoon has now talked Sylvia into insuring herself for $100,000 in his favor and Sam must prove Jefferson Davies Calhoon's guilt before the worst happens.
