He’s an extremely complex young man his name is Jim, that’s all just Jim. Black slaves had no family names, actually they had no family, and in reality they were nobody. They were nobody until they called attention to themselves and they could only do that by changing the established pattern of their lives and Jim is doing that when he escapes in search of freedom.
