Ken Carpenter initially opens the show, introducing  the Master of Ceremonies, Bing Crosby, Trudy Erwin, Cotton Lewis and the Dixieland Cowboy, who then sing "Wait For Me Mary". He continues by reading some letters from the soldiers posted overseas.
