Lieutenant Walt Levinson calls private detective Richard Diamond for a favour. He wants him to go to the funeral that afternoon of Big Foot Grafton racketeer who they'd pulled out of the Hudson river. Levinson knowing that some of Grafton's associates would be there hopes that Diamond will be able to point some of them out to him. Meanwhile the ladies from the "Ducklings" softball team want Diamond to investigate the disappearance of their second base man, Lottie who has been missing for a week.
