This story was written to celebrate the 100th birthday in the spring of 1939 of our national sport, Baseball. It tells the story 100 years ago beginning in Coopers Town, New York where Abner Doubleday and his late teenage friends were playing ball on a field. Abner wanted to bring some strategy and intelligence in the game “Town Ball” and came up with some rules for a game he called Baseball.
