Mrs Jermyn has gone out for the night to a dance with her friend Dan and her daughter and when she arrives home after 11.00pm she finds her husband shot dead. Normally the family dog Rex would have seen the culprit off but Rex had apparently chased after the car so the let him in the car as returning home would have made them late.
