While her husband of two months, Paul Bristol is out buying books for their shop, Mrs Bristol receives a visit from the police telling her that the man she is married to is actually called Matthew Baker and has escaped from a mental institution after killing his first wife by strangling her in the bath. Mrs Bristol is not sure whether to believe them or not even though the police photos they show her of Matthew Baker looks like her husband.
