At the Sign of the Lark

At the Sign of the Lark

Broadcast: January 18, 1942
Added: Mar 30 2021

This play about a bookshop is an easy going unpretentious story. Books and what they stand for are pretty important these days. (Now as well as 1942!) In fact America's one of the few countries in the world where you can still walk in to your favrite bookshop and pick out any book and take it home and read it without being molested. Freedom to read is only one of the many freedoms were all fighting to preserve because freedom to read means freedom to think and freedom to learn. Democracy is the last sanctuary of this kind of freedom and that's why we think it's important for the next half an hour or so to take you in to the quiet little bookshop called "At The Sign of The Lark".
