In August 1949, Secretary of Defense Louis Johnson announced the creation of an Armed Forces Day, which was to replace the separate Army, Navy and Air Force Days. But from 1929 until then, Army day had been held on 6th April each year, which was the anniversary date of the United States' entry into World War I. 

To celebrate Army day in 1946, Command Performance bring to you a very special show with Bob Hope as the Master of Ceremonies. Dinah Shore opens the show by singing Shoo Fly Pie and Apple Pan Dowdy
