Andrew Jackson was President of the United States of America from 1829 to 1837 but this story happened in 1844 when Andrew Jackson was the ex president but still the fiery leader of his party. And the foreign policy issue that was the basis of the fight was the proposed annexation of Texas, which eventually did lead to war with Mexico in 1846.
