Well after Abner discovered Lum was reading a book called Murder At Midnight he easily fell in line with Grand Pappy's hints that Lum was planning to kill him and collect the five thousand dollars under the terms of their new partnership insurance policy. For self protection then Abner started carrying a pistol. When Lum found this out he was equally sure that Abner was plotting against him for the same reason and then Lum decided to arm himself with a shotgun. Let's see what happens next...
