The play is about a great nation and a little people. The great nation is America and the little people are Karl and Martha Croft a young man and his wife who were born and lived most of their lives in Europe and who had a dream like millions of other people, all over the world, of America where men sing a song about freedom and call it a holy light. This is the story of two people among the many who have sought that light again after it had been extinguished in a place they had called home.
