Abraham Lincoln was President from March 4th, 1861 to April 15th, 1865 but this story happened in 1862. For some months our country had been at bloody war. This was perhaps President Abraham Lincoln’s most difficult period with the war going badly and no public support he had to make some of the most important decisions of his career.
