Troy Carver an old friend of Matt’s arrives on the stage in to Dodge. At first Carver doesn’t recognize matt and when Matt yells out to him Carver turns his gun on Matt looking ready to shoot. Troy carver and Matt have known each other twenty years and now Carver makes out like he was just kidding Matt. Carver is deputy sheriff of Tucson and is in Dodge looking for a guy named Lee Poland who is wanted for murder. Matt is surprised at certain parts of Carver’s nature that he doesn’t recognize until he realizes the reason for Carver's actions.
