Eleanor Wade believes that her brother Peter Wade is innocent of murder and seeks the help of Barton Drake to prove it. Peter believes that he is in love with Rose Quentin and he tells his sister that they are going to be married. But Eleanor tells him that Rose Quentin is seeing other men besides him. Peter picks up a shot gun and tells his sister he is going to settle this once and for all so when Rose is found dead the next day Peter Wade is the prime suspect.
