Monica loves her writer husband Rex Michaels very much but at the same time she fears that he is trying to kill her. There is no reason such as another woman why her husband should want her dead just a strange inner feeling that Monica cannot explain. She employs Barton Drake to investigate as if it is not true she would not want her husband or friends to know of her fear.
