Although Dr Martin Laraby was in his early thirties, he looked younger. He had in fact, a disarmingly boyish quality, which fortunately was no disadvantage to him as resident psychiatrist at the hospital. Martin had the gift of arousing confidence, of invoking in people a desire to tell him their problems, their hopes and fears. This was no accident, it was due to his training and the fact that he genuinely liked people!
