Tonight's story takes place in the south, in slavery days, and is based on fact. It is the story of a planter, of one night in his life - and of the next morning. Living on a small island on one of North Carolina's many Sounds, he was isolated from most of his own state, much less the nation. His name was John Williams, and we are with him now in the kitchen of his plantation house.
