Every catacomb in Rome had been catalogued four hundred years ago, but in this story set in Italy, a young archaelogist named Charles Benchley is working on his theory that there are fresh discoveries to be made under the Eternal City, pursuing his belief that there is at least one more catacomb to be discovered - and giving fresh impetus to the science of antiquities.
