(02) Abilene - The Formative Years

The episode begins with the final tributes to Dwight Eisenhower who on his death was returned home to be interred in the Kansas city where he grew up, home to Abilene. 

You will hear a short family tree of the Eisenhower family. Dwight was the third of six sons born to David and Ida Eisenhower. His mother Ida was a strong woman who guided her family well and shaped their lives. To Dwight she was the happiest  person in the world and it was from her that he learned his charm. 

You will hear from friends and neighbors the character of Dwight and his brothers who were instilled by their parents with decent ambitions.
