In regards your new poll question, I would like to point out that Gene Autry was the Original Singing Cowboy. Roy Rogers was one of The Sons of the Pioneers, and while he was very talented, he was one voice in a group of voices. When Gene Autry went to serve his country in WWII, Roy Rogers stayed behind and made a name for himself. I like Roy Rogers, he was a wonderful man, but Gene Autry is the first and foremost, Original Singing Cowboy!

Glad you are doing some Roy Rogers shows . Of course he was number 1 even though he came after Gene Autry and Gene was on the scene first. But most kids gravitated to Roy Rogers. I can't say he was a better singer than Gene but he sure was a better actor and seemed to love people more. Gene was really in the movies to make money to become a businessman. Roy was there because he really believed in bringing happiness to kids .
