Old Time Radio -v- Audiobooks

Anyone who has been a member of RUSC for a while will know I love my little surveys. There are many times when I get to thinking about something and I wonder what everyone else thinks and so I put it up as a mini-survey. Luckily, member's of RUSC are a responsive bunch (thanks for that!) and so the results usually come pouring in.

Throughout October I had a little survey on the member's home page that posed the following question:

"Do you enjoy audiobooks more or less than old time radio shows?"

From a personal perspective I've always preferred old time radio shows to audiobooks. There are some excellent audiobooks around, and I do have quite a few, but given the choice I'd go with old time radio shows any day of the week. I wondered whether member's of RUSC felt the same way, which was why I posted the little mini-poll. The results astonished me as you all seemed to be very positive about radio shows. Here's the table of how the results ended up:

Only two people thought that audiobooks were better than old time radio shows - shame on you! Thirty-seven percent liked both, but an incredible fifty-four percent preferred old time radio shows and forty percent of all respondents thought old time radio shows were a LOT better.

I suppose the fact that RUSC focuses on old time radio shows is going to skew the results quite a bit, but it still surprised me how passionate many of you are about old time radio shows. It never fails to amaze me how much people enjoy these shows even though some of them are almost three quarters of a century old. How many of today's audiobooks will last that long?

Happy listening my friends
