Happy Birthday Jack!

One hundred and eleven years ago on this very day, one of the all-time greats of old time radio was born. His name was Benjamin Kubelsky, but he's far better known as Jack Benny. 

Over the past few weeks we've had a little poll on the site asking Who was the Greatest - Jack Benny or Bob Hope?.

When I put the poll up I was expecting it to be a really close run affair - neck and neck to the end - but right from the start Jack shot into the lead. Bob put up a pretty good fight, but never managed to keep up with Jack.

As of this morning Benjamin Kubelsky was leading Leslie Townes Hope (yes, that's Bob Hope's real name) 62% to 38%, which is pretty conclusive evidence, if any were needed, that Jack Benny remains one of the all-time greats even thirty years after his death.
