Hands up if you've heard of William Shakespeare?

Hands up if you've heard of William Shakespeare?

Everyone? Yes I thought so! You can probably name a least one or two of his plays off the top of your head right now too? (I know I can...)

William Shakespeare was one of the greatest writers of the 16th century, and his poems, sonnets and plays have been performed the world over.

This month marks an incredible 450 years since William Shakespeare was born, and to commemorate his writings, I have searched through the old time radio archives for any presentations featuring him or his plays. It turns out that they were pretty popular in the Golden Age of Radio!

Click here to see which shows I have put together.

Included in the list is the Favorite Story episode Mister Shakespeare - a story about what might happen if the greatest of all playwrights could come back out of the past to work for a modern motion picture studio.

Another interesting one, is the CBS Radio Workshop's episode entitled Interview With Shakespeare. It is a fictional story in which Dr. Frank C. Baxter, a professor of English at the University of Southern California, interviews the distinguished author William Shakespeare as if he were alive in 1956 to ascertain who wrote the works of Shakespeare.

Happy listening my friends,

Ned Norris
