The case that is about to be dramatized differs from the average police case in that the police had no inkling of the person or the fact that a crime had been committed until the murderer confessed. Regardless of the emphasis with which a conscience stricken murderer may confess there is always a chance for something to go wrong before the case goes to court or while it is being tried. 

Margaret Willis confesses to Bert that Dr Baldwin is dead in the trunk that Bert had helped to tie on the back of the car. She tells him that she had shot him self defence and asks him for his help to dispose of the body.
