Anton Tessler is gifted with being able to read the minds of people and together with his wife they earn their living as an act but his wife fears he will let his gift become a curse. When his wife is discovered dead in the road even though no one saw her murdered Tessler knows that she was hit by a car and can describe the car, a white convertible with a bended fender. He is determined to use his gift to find out who has killed his wife and why.
