A landlady of a rooming house becomes concerned when she has not seen Edwin Lowfield a gentleman in his sixties leave his room for a few days. When the police come and break down his door they discover him dead. Seems he has died poor and lonely but when they search his room they find thousands of dollars and need to find any living relatives.
